KJ's recent fun

As exciting as Karter is to have in our home, KJ too has been able to have some fun of his own. Just before Karter arrived, we took KJ sledding down a nice hill in our area. He was quite the little daredevil. He would not go down the hill without Dad to begin, and he would not go down with Dad in the end. Funny story, after an hour or so of playing, Kelby came upon a posted sign that said No Sledding. Oops!!

WALKING WITH DINOSAURS

KJ had another fun night out, this time with his Dad (I was home with Karter). Walking with Dinosaurs game to the Energy Solutions Building this month. KJ has always loved his Dino's, so Kelby thought it would be a lot of fun to take KJ to it. They both had a great time. I loved the reenactments I received from KJ when they returned home that night. I guess T-Rex was quite the large and scary dinosaur, because a once favorite of KJ's now makes him hide under his shirt (at least he did that at the show).

Karter at Home

Karter at the Hospital

Where did the time go?

Okay, I am blaming my lack of posting on the mere fact that I was miserable the majority of the time, and then the rest of the time I was spending with our new delight, Karter.
Karter Lewis Miller was born on January 14, 2009, at 5:16 P.M. He was 7 lbs. 5 oz. and measured out at 21" long. I was at school that day monitoring the lunch room sitting with a bunch of my students, when I had this very strange feeling come over me. Yes, my dreaded nightmare came true, my water broke. Thankfully I only had a few minutes left in lunch, so I calmly sat there until the lunchroom cleared. I quickly called Kelby and told him to come and get me, my water had broke. He was there before I could get out of the building, and we made our way to the hospital. Four not-so-bad hours later we had a beautiful baby boy in our arms.
Kelby did great again! He is always such a good support for me, and I love to watch his genuine care and concern for both me and the baby. Thanks babe!
KJ came over later that evening saying "Where is MY baby Karter?" He has been very gentle and cute with Karter. I am sure he will be a great older brother in years to come.
We have had a lot of visitors and helpers around the house this past week and a half. Thanks to Mom and Amy for all their help cleaning and talking care of my family. Thanks to all the visitors in the hospital; your support is very much appreciated.
Well I now sit at home loving this newborn in my arms. I am thankful for the upcoming weeks I get to stay home with Karter. I hope to be able to accomplish a few projects that have been left unfinished. Kelby hopes to have dinner ready every evening (I will do my best), and we all hope that everyone continues to grow strong and healthy.
Till next time.....................

Misc. Updates

As I am sitting here reflecting back on this past month, I can remember some very fun times that we have had with family and friends, but I cannot find any pictures of those events for some reason. (It could be that I did not have my camera with me. That might have helped out a bit don't you think??!!) Anyway, I do want to mention a few of those fun times. Thanksgiving happened a bit early for the Carpenter family this year. We have a tradition (if you can call it that) to get together on the 3rd Sunday of every month to enjoy dinner and ones company. This year we decided to count that dinner as our Thanksgiving feast. Even though it was a week early, we still had a fabo time. With the efforts of everyone, we all had a nice spread to eat from. Jen, Kelby still talks about that wonderful apple pie that you made. After dinner, we took that opportunity to celebrate the November birthdays as well. Chelle and Bry, Happy Birthday again! We truly missed Jeff, Amy, and Kaylie, but were happy to know they enjoyed a great Thanksgiving with their own little family. We miss you guys!

We were also very lucky to have our very close friends the Humphries join us for Thanksgiving at our house this year. We have really missed being around these guys, and when they agreed to come up and stay a few days with us, we were elated. They arrived late Wednesday and the cooking and eating began first thing on Thursday. Kelby made his holiday ham (12 hours of cooking and basting later...) which is always a hit during the holidays and we thank him for that sleepless night of preparation. My brother John, my parents, and Kelby's dad joined us as well for the dinner that day. It was great having everyone!

Besides those larger events, our family has been enjoying this time together. We have started putting up Christmas decorations outside and throughout the house. We have enjoyed the new mischievous things that KJ continues to surprise us with like taking a tub of cool whip into his room and continue to smear it all over himself, his floor, and his walls. (Thanks hubby for cleaning that one up!) We are also enjoying that the time is passing quickly because I am continuing to become more and more uncomfortable in this pregnancy. I have intense back pains that Kelby helps me through with massage, I am not sleeping well at all, and I am really tired all of the time. I am only hoping these last 8 weeks fly by even quicker. KJ is enjoying placing his hand on Mommy's belly and feeling baby Karter kick. He smiles each time, it is precious to watch.

Well that about sums it all up. Till next time..............
